Qacha’s Nek was founded in 1888 near the beautiful pass of the same name. Like so many towns in Lesotho, Qacha’s Nek was originally a mission station and is now a pleasant town with an attractive church and some colonial–style buildings. The town has an airstrip, making it an important centre for charter flights. Qacha’s Nek is the most practical entry point to Lesotho from South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province.
